Looks like customers will be able to finally purchase the Apple AirPods that the company announced a while back. The wireless AirPods is supposedly going to be available in the next few weeks.
Apple AirPods Release Date
The wireless earbuds from Apple, which were announced alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, were originally meant to go on sale in October. Due to problems with production and the device not being ready for customers, Apple said it needed more time.
Last month, an Apple authorized retailer stated that the AirPods would be available in the month of December. And now, CEO Tim Cook has officially stated that the headphones will ship in the next few weeks. That is not a very good ETA, but at least something is better than nothing.
The accuracy of this has not been confirmed, but according to MacRumors, CEO Tim Cook responded to an email sent by an eager customer. The email headers do point to corporate servers belonging to Apple, so it could be very real. This is not the first time that an Apple Executive has replied to a customer's email directly. Here is the email;
Customer's comment: Give us a release date. I really bought in to the wireless vision you painted. Now I'm stuck waiting with my EarPods but can't charge my 7 at the same time which I need to do at work. Let us know if it's a month or 6 months, because then I'll just buy some other wireless headphones.
Tim Cook's response: Thanks for your note. Sorry for the delay---we are finalizing them and I anticipate we will begin to ship over the next few weeks.
The Wireless Vision - Apple AirPods
The AirPods from Apple is not a new technology, and as per PhoneArena, it received criticism from several outlets. Apple has a custom designed chip called W1 in the AirPods that makes it super easy to connect to an iPhone. It also has infrared sensors, accelerometers and beam forming microphones.
Apple wants a wireless future and by eliminating the headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, they have just started the movement. The next iPhone 8 could feature a completely wireless charging technology to make it a truly wireless device.
As for now, those waiting to get their hands on the Apple AirPods will feel better knowing that it will be available in the next few weeks. Exact date is not known yet, but Apple could make an official announcement soon.
