Canadian carriers Rogers and TELUS have reduced the price of the 16GB version of iPhone 5 to $99.99 on a three-year contract.
Previously, Rogers was selling the iPhone 5 for $179.99 on a three-year contract and Bell is also selling the iPhone 5 for $179.95 on a three-year contract. Rogers and TELUS are both offering the 16GB variant of the iPhone in white and black colors.
The iPhone 5, launched in September 2012, has taken over the hearts of millions of smartphone fans. The iPhone 5 features a 4-inch Retina display, a powerful A6 chip, an 8-megapixel iSight camera with panorama, ultrafast wireless, iOS 6 and iCloud. The iPhone 5 is also the thinnest and the lightest iPhone ever.
Recent rumors have indicated that Apple has already started production of the next-generation iPhone, which may hit the market very soon. So is the price reduction from Rogers and TELUS an indication that the successor of the iPhone 5 is on its way?
"Fresh rumors out of the Far East say that Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn has already started production of the so-called iPhone 5S, with the next-generation handset reportedly being built on the same lines as the current iPhone 5," reports Apple Insider.
Rumors suggest that Apple will host an event in March this year where the company will launch the second-generation of its iPad mini tablet. So is it possible that Apple gives eager iFans a peek into the next-generation iPhone at this purported event?
However, Apple Insider reports "Rumors surrounding the release of Apple's next-gen smartphone have been heating up, with two reports on Monday claiming the iPhone 5S will likely see a summer rollout. The exact dates haven't been pinned down, with predictions ranging from a June announcement to a release in August."
Apple is yet to confirm the rumors circling the next-generation iPhone and we will have to wait and see when the company launches the next iteration of the iPhone.
If you are looking for a new iPhone 5 on a three-year contract for $99.99 then head to Rogers or TELUS.
