Nokia took to the recently-concluded Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 in Barcelona to launch its Lumia 720 and Lumia 520, which cater to the mid-range and low-end segments, respectively. Per reports, the Windows Phone 8-powered smartphones are now up for pre-order in Germany.
The Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 are budget friendly smartphone offerings from the Finnish company, and the handsets boast an array of features that will strike a chord with the consumers.
The Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 are now up for pre-order via German retailer Cyberport and will cost €199 and €379, respectively. The price is inclusive of VAT and is for the unlocked version of the smartphones.
"Cyberport.de has opened up pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 520 and 720, Nokia's new generation of Windows Phone 8 handsets in the low and mid-range," reports WMPoweruser.
At MWC 2013, Nokia revealed that it would be retailing the Lumia 520 for €140 and the Lumia 720 for €250; however, these figures did not include taxes which explains the higher pricing.
Cyberport is now accepting pre-orders for the two latest Nokia Lumia smartphones. The Lumia 520 can be pre-ordered in five colors: cyan, yellow, white, red and black. The Lumia 720 is available in black, red, yellow, white and cyan.
The retailer has not disclosed when the smartphones will start shipping.
Germany, however, is not the only European country to see pre-orders for the Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 pop up online. Recently, UK retailer Clove announced via its blog that the smartphones would be available from April 1.
"The Nokia Lumia 520 & 720 were announced earlier this week at Mobile World Congress. We are very pleased to say that we can now confirm the price and availability on both units. The Lumia 520, will be available in Black & White from 1st April and will be priced at £141.66+VAT (£169.99 including). The Nokia Lumia 720, is also due to be available on the 1st April. The price will be £249.99+VAT (£299.99 inclusive). We will be supplying in Black colour only at this time." notes Clove UK.
Another UK-based retailer, Expansys, has the black variants of both the Lumia 720 and Lumia 520 up for pre-order, but has not confirmed their pricing.
At launch Nokia disclosed that the WP8-powered smartphones would release in Asia first by the end of March, followed by other regions. Judging by the pre-orders, the Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 seem poised for an April release.
