The special DC crossover between the superheroes from “Supergirl”, “The Flash”, “Arrow”, and “Legends of Tomorrow” capped off on Dec. 1. The series collaboration was a major project by The CW, which they produced and scattered in four episodes in all related series. With fans left wanting more, it has been reported that more DC characters will be gracing the “Supergirl” series.
Supergirl has proven herself in the recent crossover as a dependable teammate. Now fans are wondering what more are stored for the four superhero series. Andrew Kreisberg, the creator for all four DC television series on The CW, has shed light on this and delved on possible future productions.
Kriesberg has admitted that though the idea of new DC characters appearing has not yet been formally discussed, it is certain that there are several possibilities. The special crossover arc has opened up a lot of prospects for all the series and this means the stories can get a lot more interesting. He also said that they are open on touching on the stories of countless DC characters in the future.
Fans are hoping that more of the members of Superman's family will be tackled such as Power Girl and Superboy. Characters from the Legion of Superheroes are the most likely candidates to make special appearances as Superman had mentioned the team back in “Supergirl” Season 1. With all the possibilities of new characters being featured, fans are scratching their heads asking why Martian Manhunter also known as J’onn J’onnz was not part of the crossover special.
Fighting the Dominators would have been easier if there were two aliens aboard instead of just one. Even Superman’s absence from the crossover raised questions when he actually made occasional appearances on “Supergirl” Season 2. There are two probable reasons why these two superheroes were not included in the Invasion arc, which is also referred to as “Heroes vs Aliens – The Dominators”.
The production probably did not have enough budget to bring all the characters together. If that wasn’t the reason then it could be because they wanted to focus on building up the main superheroes’ character developments. “Supergirl” Season 2 can go towards several possible stories but nothing is certain yet. All four DC television series currently air on The CW every week.
