When Rivals Meet: Chevy Camaro ZL1 Versus The Corvette Z06

Hennessey Performance Engineering has been known as one of the best when it comes to tuning and modifying sports and super cars. This time, they are pitting two of the most powerful and fastest road cars that most car enthusiasts are very familiar with. The Chevy Camaro ZL1 versus the Corvette Z06.

Both The ZL1 And The Z06 Share The Same Engine

First of, the Chevy Camaro ZL1 was unveiled last March at the New York International Auto Show. This mean looking muscle car puts out an official dyno score of 650horse power coming from its massive 6.2liter LT4 V8 engine. The ZL1 is reported to be able to reach zero to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds. On the other hand, The Corvette Z06 shares the same 6.2liter V8 engine and also puts out 650 horses to the wheels. The Z06 however, can reach zero to 60 miles per hour in a much quicker time of 2.9 seconds.

The Winner Was Just Mere Split Seconds Away

The head-to-head race was held at the Lone Star Motorsports Park on Thursday. Most viewers were expecting the Camaro ZL1 to be eating road dust from the Z06 due to the differences in times. The engine placement, size, and weight make a big difference even if the two cars share the same engine. The power to weight ratio can make a big difference in how a car reacts, and the Camaro ZL1 is definitely the heavier of the two. However, they were astonished to see that the Camaro ZL1 was just inches away from the Corvette Z06 at the finish line. Although Hennessey Performance has announced no official time, the video of the race clearly shows that the Camaro was mere split seconds away from the Corvette. The Camaro may have lost the race, but this powerful muscle car still shows how good it is n going toe to toe with a much lighter, much quicker car. With just a little bit of fine-tuning, who knows what else the Camaro can achieve and what other super cars it can beat.
