It’s been five years since the release of George R.R. Martin’s “A Dance with Dragons” and fans couldn’t be more excited about the latest installment in the phenomenal fantasy series “ A Song of Ice and Fire”of the famous writer.
Arguably, “The Winds of Winter” has been facing a lot of controversies past high hopes of its 2016 grand launch. Every book lover and his hungry, creative mind did not throw away even an inch of expectation that the sixth novel will find its way to bookstores before the year ends. To a great dismay, it won’t be up until next year probably.
There are no exact updates on the progress of “Winds of Winter” and how long would it take for Martin to finish. Despite his completion of the book in a couple of months, still,l it isn’t possible for publishing in the first quarter of 2017. The book has to undergo its final phases of production like proofreading and printing.
Should this theory come to fruition, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” season 7 will premiere and take its final run ahead of the book release. What good will it bring then to the series viewers and the book readers if the big mystery is not spared for stunning thrills?
Recently, Martin caught the attention of the press and his followers when he updated his personal blog and emphasized that his appearance in the Guadalajara International Book Fair in Mexico will be his last event for this year and he will be limiting his activity list in 2017 to finish the “Winds of Winter.”
“I'm one of the guests at the conference. I'll be doing interviews, a press conference, a live streaming event, and a signing. I expect I will be doing some tequila tasting as well. I am informed that Guadalajara is the tequila capital of Mexico,” Martin wrote.
Will tequila’s strong influence kick him to work faster than expected?
“This is my last scheduled event for 2016. My appearance schedule for 2017 is very limited and will remain so until WINDS is completed. So if you want to meet me or get a book signed, this will be the last chance for a good few months...,” he continued writing in his journal.
It looks like a huge delay is coming and it seems that Martin is not only punched with his book issues but with the tv adaptation show as well. Recent reports noted that the multi-awarded writer is planning to pay an on-set visit on the final season of “Game of Thrones” and its main cast members Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) aren’t happy about his alleged arrival.
Any star would be pleased to have his overwhelming presence as they owed him their blockbuster hit on tv and in prestigious award giving bodies. And yes, their rise to stardom.
So, what now Martin?
