How AI Will Evolve in 2017?

Artificial intelligence (AI) will remain one of the hottest topics in 2017 and we'll be hearing more news about various advances of the technology made by the top tech companies.

Emergence Of Standards

According to Venture Beat, in the next year will emerge AI intuitive features and standards. Digital designers everywhere will start to recognize the AI trends. As consequence, voice interactions will greatly improve. The set of models and definitions created by developers today for voice interaction with assistants like Siri and Alexa will influence the field for a long time to come.

Voice-Activated AI

For competitors of Google, voice interaction experiences represent a small window of opportunity to loosen search giant's stranglehold on the search market. Voice interactions remain, for the most part, an exercise in contextual search results. Even if it's still a game of "best algorithm wins," today already all algorithms have become pretty good. Users could easily get hooked into interacting with a non-Google voice assistant. This is, in fact, the case with Microsoft's Bing currently sitting behind Apple's Siri, Amazon's Echo and Cortana.

It's still uncertain if Google will lose its search dominance in 2017, but the other search options powered by AI are making the competition stronger. This is a window of opportunity and wouldn't be surprising if new entrants steal user loyalty from Google.

Facilitating Parental Use

In a home with young children, voice interactions could be an ideal solution. They facilitate parents' multitasking, allowing you to be able cooking a meal or giving your child a without interruption.

AirPods AI

Apple might see its AirPods as something similar to Google Glass, but with less negative social bias. According to Wired, AirPods are like a computer for your ears. They are always on, always at-the-ready, providing an opportunity for personal connection to the content.

Apple is having an original approach, placing a bet on a nonvisual connection. This might be a winning strategy, at least until the optical wearable technology matures. We will probably see this new product become in 2017 a preferred interface to AI assistance.

Multi-Platform Brand Personalities

As AI and voice interactions get closer to natural language conversations, we can apply more personality traits to our virtual agents. There are unique voice tones and personalities that align with core brands. New digital assistant characters for a brand can attract a new audience or shift perceptions.

Tech experts forecast that in 2017 these new AI personalities will make their debuts through voice. They will take hold across multiple platforms, channels, and apps. Perhaps in the very near future, we will also see an original digital voice experience giving life to a new TV brand character.

Hardware Peripheral Support

We are heading for an AI and voice-enabled future. Siri already works now with multiple apps and the only issue is that most those products were not designed with listening and speaking in mind. In most multi-use devices, the ability and quality of the microphone can't keep up with purpose-built ones like the Google Home speaker or Amazon Echo.

In 2017, there will continue to come on the market more PC devices with voice interaction software capabilities. Tech experts also expect that Apple will launch its own purpose-built peripherals as well.
