Missed the PlayStation Experience 2016 event last weekend? Then you missed tons of new stuff announced, exciting reveals and heart-stopper trailers. Worry not, though. We've compiled the best of the best trailers showcased during the event. There were other trailers revealed during PlayStation Experience 2016 that deserves to be in this list, but these are my picks.
The Last Of Us 2
Sony took the opportunity to announce that the sequel to The Last of Us is arriving soon. It came with a trailer, in which we see a grown-up Ellie. We see Joel here, too, but we've come to know that the story will be more of hate than the love between the two.
Set five years after the events of the first title, The Last of Us 2 looks pretty good. The animation while Ellie plays the guitar is spectacular and the details in her face are amazing. The trailer is nice to watch, but what we want to know is what exactly happened to the two protagonists.
Death Stranding
At the video below, we get another sneak peek at the latest project of the genius behind Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima. The intro looks chillingly perfect, then we see Guillermo del Toro, making it perfect even more. Then we see some weird stuff, but you know, Hideo Kojima. Fast forward and then there's Mads Mikkelsen dressed as a soldier still in his "Doctor Strange" makeup and seemingly connected to his undead soldiers via umbilical cords.
So what exactly is this game about? I have no idea; all I know is that it looks awesome. Watch the video in 4K to appreciate. It has been confirmed that the game will be using the Decima engine that was also used in Horizon Zero Dawn, which brings us to the next item.
Horizon Zero Dawn
The trailer opens up with beautiful robot creatures prancing about in breathtaking landscapes. Nature and tech clash; the world as we know it has been overtaken by nature, but now robots live in it.
We are taken on a tour to different locations, various creatures and incredible scenes. We see the protagonist use different weapons to survive. The only question is if the graphics here will be the gameplay standard of Horizon Zero Dawn. Because if it is, it's one heck of a stunning game.
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite has also been officially announced at PSX 2016. The trailer that accompanied it shows Mega Man and Ryu in a tag team to defeat the Iron Man and Supergirl duo. Infinity Stones make an appearance, but any character can use them as evidenced by the former team grabbing some to boost their power.
While the graphics are understandably unlike in the titles above, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite still looks pretty. There's no doubt that the new title is a notch higher than other fighting titles today.
Bonus: Ni No Kuni II
Ni No Kuni II gets an English trailer in PSX 2016. This game takes more of an anime style rather than a realistic one, but it still looks rather pleasing. There's beauty in this style when all you want is to game with a light aura.
Other trailers worth mentioning are Destiny: Rise of Iron - The Dawning, Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy, Gran Turismo Sport and Ace Combat 7. It's like E3 all over again with all the revelations and trailers, but we ain't complaining. Year 2017 is looking to be one of the prettiest years for gamers so far and we're getting giddy like a kid.
