New 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS Spotted With High Tech Headlights

For months, automotive enthusiasts have been waiting for the official release of the new 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLS. The German car company has issued no official statement yet but reports show testing of a prototype of a new car. The body and outline of the new car show a very high possibility that it could be what we have all been waiting for, and it may feature futuristic headlights.

The New Benz Might Still Be A Prototype

The car being tested might still be on its prototype stages as it is still covered in vinyl and does not really show much. However, the roofline, the size and how the front end looks may be a giveaway on the car's identity. From what we know, the new CLS will use the same platform with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class as its base. No information has been released yet whether it would still use the same CLS name, or if it will be renamed as the CLE.

An Electric Version Could Be Offered

Some speculations for the powertrains of the new Mercedes CLS-CLE will most likely include an electric version that will be an additional variant. An AMG version could also be released which will most likely come in a 4.0liter twin turbo V8 engine that can put out as much as 604horse power like the one on the E 63 S version. A new generation of headlights may also be introduced with the new Mercedes-Benz CLS-CLE coupe.

New Digital Lamps For The New CLS-CLE

The new headlamp is rumored to be named "Digital Light." The headlight system will feature a LED system that uses a chip that uses over one million micro-mirrors and will illuminate in a similar manner as a high definition projector. The light will be split into miniscule pixels that make the headlamp project high definition pictures meters ahead of the car. Details of the new LED system have been revealed as a concept on a Mercedes-Benz S-Class and hoping to see the finalized version on the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLS-CLE.
