YouTube Sensation Pewdiepie To Delete Account At 50 Million Subscribers; Claims Changes In Youtube Is A 'Kick In The Face'

YouTube sensation Pewdiepie sent fans into panic mode when he announced last December 2 that he will be deleting his account once it reaches 50 million subscribers. The infamous vlogger revealed his beef with the video-sharing website, claiming that their recent change is a "kick in the face."

Pewdiepie or Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg in real life made a name for himself through his popular YouTube videos. The 27-year-old vlogger is known for his expletive-ridden rants as well as various vlogs including "Let's Play" videos of famous video games. Pewdiepie is one of the most successful and popular YouTuber today, racking in over 13 billion video views and still counting.

His YouTube channel was launched way back 2010 and has then gained a massive fan base. In fact, Pewdiepie was named as Forbes top-earning YouTube celebrity, earning $12 million in 2015. Despite this, Pewdiepie announced that he will be deleting his account soon.

Apparently, Pewdiepie strongly opposes the alleged change in algorithms done by YouTube. Pewdiepie along with other users believe that some videos are getting more promotions and publicity regardless of its quality. The YouTube sensation also claims that the said change feels like a "kick in the face."

"It is really upsetting how [YouTube] did this change. They won't explain what happened properly to anyone," PewDiePie, who has just over 49 million subscribers, said in a video uploaded Friday. "It's not just me, a lot of YouTubers are noting this."

In the posted YouTube video, Pewdiepie revealed that he is going to delete his account at 50 million subscribers. As of this writing, his channel has a total of 49,682,454 subscribers and still counting. However, Pewdiepie also made it clear that deleting his account is not the end of his YouTube journey. He revealed that he will also start a new one after deleting his jam-packed original channel.

"I will delete my channel once Pewdiepie hits 50 million," he said in the video. "I think it's gonna be pretty fun, I'm excited to delete my channel and start fresh with a new sh*tty channel probably. I won't quit YouTube, I'll just delete the channel."
