The Overwatch Christmas event will reportedly start early based on the codes dug by the dataminers. A lot of players are curious if Torbjorn will once again play Santa this year.
Overwatch Christmas Event Revealed
The dataminers uncovered some codes that possibly hint of four new maps. There is a big possibility that a Christmas themed event will also be held similar to the previous Halloween event, Junkenstein's Revenge. The dataminers believed that at least one of the four maps is tailor made for the Overwatch Christmas event. Unfortunately, the Overwatch dataminers were unable to extract any information about the plot or game mechanics for the Christmas themed map. It can either be variation of Junkenstein's Revenge or a new gameplay.
Heroes Getting New Emote, Christmas Intro, Skin
A number of Overwatch heroes namely Ana, D. Va, Lucio, Mercy, Reaper, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Soldier 76, Sombra, Symmetra and Widowmaker may get a Christmas themed emote, intro or skin. Other heroes such as McCree, Mei, Pharah, Tracer, Winston, Zarya and Zenyatta may get both emote, intro or skin. Torbjörn however, seems to be getting all of the above. This may confirm the speculation that this particular hero is playing Santa again.
Date for Overwatch Christmas Event
The dataminers are guessing that the Overwatch Christmas event is going to start on December 13 and ends on January 2017. There are also speculations that Blizzard may start the event early this week and end it on December 27. The reason for this is to make room for an Overwatch New Year's Event although there are some doubts about its feasibility.
This the second time that dataminers have uncovered codes for the Overwatch Christmas event. An earlier report covered the less than a minute Christmas jingle discovered hidden in the game. It can only be assumed that the Christmas intro of the various heroes will be revealed in the coming days.
