Galaxy S3 Black Variant Heading To TELUS

Samsung Galaxy S3 is currently available in Marble White, Pebble Blue and Garnet Red colors in Canada. Now a recent report indicates that the Sapphire Black version of the handset will make its way to carrier TELUS.

"We've seen Marble White, Pebble Blue and Garnet Red. On the cusp of Samsung announcing the Galaxy S IV, TELUS is on deck to release the Sapphire Black version of the Galaxy S III. We first let you know about this back in January and no official release date is confirmed, but TELUS stores have started to receive price cards that indicate the black version is en route," reports Mobile Syrup.

Samsung initially launched the Galaxy S3 in only two colors only: white and blue. Later on, the Korean company extended the color line-up to Amber Brown, Garnet Red, Sapphire Black, Martian Pink and Titanium Grey. However, all colors are not available globally.

Canadian carriers initially offered white and blue color options for the smartphone, and later on the red version of the handset made its way to Bell and TELUS.

Samsung says that the Galaxy S3 is "designed for humans and inspired by nature" and the array of color options add to the device's consumer appeal.

"Sapphire Black: A colour that adds the mysterious power of dark stones to the refined, deep sophistication of the colour black, Sapphire Black is inspired by the stones used by the ancient people of India and Persia for protection, with the belief they strengthened one's willpower," says a Samsung blog post.

Currently, in the U.S., the Sapphire Black Galaxy S3 is available only on Verizon. Even though reports indicate that the black version of the phone will make its way to TELUS, the carrier has not confirmed the news. It is not sure if other carriers will follow suit.

Presently, TELUS is offering the white and blue versions of the phone for free on a three-year contract. It will be interesting to see if the carrier sells the black version of the smartphone at the same price point.
