Chevrolet Brings New Hope To Diesel With 2017 Cruze

Following the scandal diesel engines have been involved with in recent times, its future seemed to have darkened. However, all hope is not lost as some automakers are still doing their best to bring diesel engines in the U.S. market. In fact, Chevrolet is bringing in a diesel-powered 2017 Cruze. Another great thing about it is that it will not cost buyers a lot of money.

The 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel

GM Authority reported that the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze has a 1.6-liter turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that is capable of 140 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. Accordingly, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel has an expected fuel economy range of 25 miles per gallon in the city, 46 in the highway and 33 miles per gallon on a combined basis. This is not the final rate as it was also reported that the 2017 Cruze Diesel is hoping to achieve a highway fuel economy rate of up to 50 miles per gallon.

Price, Trim And Features

According to a report from CNET, the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel has a price tag of $24,670 for the standard manual transmission. Buyers can opt for nine-speed automatic transmission for an additional $1,600 for a total of $26,270. The good news does not end there as it was also mentioned that the 2017 Chevrolet Diesel packed with all the features possible will only reach a maximum price of $29,950.

Accordingly, the 2017 Cruze Diesel is only available in one trim that is based on the Cruze LT having the same features such as a six-speaker audio system, LED daytime running lights and a 7-inch touchscreen that controls its satellite radio. Other features include a keyless entry, heated front seats, keyless start and power driver's seat.

Diesel Hope Renewed

With the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel entering the auto market next year, the hopes for diesel engine is renewed. Now the waiting game begins for those that are looking forward to get their hands on the new model of Chevrolet Cruze.
