Previously, Sprint and Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 owners received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, and now subscribers on carrier U.S. Cellular have started to receive the software update as well.
Samsung rolled out the update along with the Premium Suite feature globally. However, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software update comes with a twist to Galaxy S3 in the U.S., as the update does not include Premium Suite.
The much-awaited software update brings performance enhancements and bug fixes to the Galaxy S3. Subscribers on other carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile may not have hope for Premium Suite, as the U.S. Cellular version of the Galaxy S3 is getting the Android 4.1.2 update rolled out without the Premium Suite on board.
"Android 4.1, Jelly Bean has new features and innovations to deliver a faster, smoother and more natural smartphone experience. You'll experience easier device personalization; enhanced communications and camera experiences; more powerful search features; and a more intuitive interface that helps you and your device work smarter, not harder," says a U.S. Cellular statement.
The update includes the following improvements and features:
More Intelligent Interactions
The software update makes your Galaxy S3 even more responsive by boosting your device's CPU instantly when you touch the screen, and turns it down when you don't need it, to improve battery life.
Enhanced Notifications Bar
With the update, the notifications bar now displays the full text of incoming SMS messages. When you receive an MMS, you can now view a full photo in your notification.
More Intuitive Interface
The software update also brings faster and smoother navigation on your device. Switching between apps is faster than before.
New Photo Experience
You can now swipe from the camera view finder to quickly review the photos you've taken without having to leave the camera app.
New Customization Features
The software update makes customizing the home screen even easier. When you place widgets on the screen everything else automatically moves to make room. Widgets even resize on their own if too big for the display.
