BlackBerry Z10 vs. Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. Galaxy S3: A No-Holds-Barred Showdown/Smackdown Cage Match

Few decisions in life will be as important as the one you'll make at the cellphone store when choosing between the BlackBerry Z10, Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3 — so many megapixels, lithium ions and RAM gigabytes.

This guide is designed to help you navigate the murky smartphone waters. Proceed with care and terminal diligence:

Display

The BlackBerry Z10 rocks a 4.2-inch LCD display that boasts a resolution of 1280 x 768 and 356 ppi.

The Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display, with 1280 x 720 pixels and 306 ppi.

When it finally hits stores, the Galaxy S4 will have a full 5-inch display that features Super HD AMOLED technology and a mind-boggling resolution of 1080 x 1920. The display will also have a layer of Gorilla Glass 2 protection, rendering it essentially shatterproof.

Camera and Photo/Video Features

Each of the handsets in the lineup features front and rear-facing cameras. Furthermore, the front camera on all three smartphones is eight megapixels, shoots in 1080p and has an LED flash. All three front-facing cameras are two megapixels and shoot in 720p.

In this realm, the devices mostly differentiate in terms of special camera features.

Blackberry's Z10 will support "tap screen to snap," "touch to focus," an editing suite and the TimeShift feature.

The Galaxy S3 has "touch to focus," geo-tagging, burst photography, face and smile detection, an editing suite and more.

The Galaxy S4 is likely to ship with most of the functions of the S3 camera and almost surely a few new add-ons.

Horsepower

The BlackBerry Z10 is powered by a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro, a slightly more robust version of the standard S4 chip. It has 2GB of RAM.

The Galaxy S3 sports the exact same chipset.

The Galaxy S4, on the other hand, represents a quantum leap forward in sheer processing power. Although RAM is likely to remain the same, the device will feature an eight-core processor and PowerVR GPU.
