The Sims 4: Vintage Glamour Stuff brings the butler to our households. Very different from the maid who comes in and leaves everyday, the butler lives in your home. There are other differences as well and this article will tackle them. Plus, learn some tips on how to better manage your new housemate.
How To Hire A Butler
You hire butlers the same way you do a maid: through the phone. The Sims 4: Vintage Glamour Stuff should introduce more options using your phone. Pick it up, select "Household," then choose "Hire Services." The butler will be listed at a price of $12 per hour plus a one-time fee of $175. It adds up to $288 per day, so only the rich can really afford to make a butler stay.
Once you have "ordered" your The Sims 4 butler, he will arrive shortly. Make sure you assign him a bed. Better yet, allot a small room just for him. Click on the bed and assign it to him to prevent him from sleeping on your family's beds.
You can also lock him out of certain rooms, like your bedrooms, for example. Click on the door and choose "Lock Door For..." "Everyone But Household Members" should do the trick, but you can also do this to lock out other family members. Likewise, you can have rooms that only the butler can enter.
How To Manage Butler Responsibilities
A butler can do variety of things - if you'll let him. Butlers can automatically do four tasks in The Sims 4: attending to minors, repairing objects, gardening and cleaning. If you want to take care of your child yourself, you can toggle this option off by interacting with him, choosing "Butler" option and then "Responsibilities."
You can also choose how your butler handles visitors. Do you want him to dismiss everyone who comes knocking? Or do you want to let him greet all visitors to your home? The default action for him is to ignore them completely, but you can change that in "Visitors" tab.
The butler can also do certain tasks at your whim. You can have him cook for you, for the family or for a party. They come with a price, though: $20, $40 and $60 respectively. Similarly, they can prepare a bar drink for $8. To turn up the party, ask them to burn up the dance floor. You can access these commands through the "Assign Tasks" interaction.
Depending on your butler's performance, you can reprimand, praise or fire him. However, it is not advisable to fire him through the "Management" tab. If you do not wish to have a butler anymore or you want a new one, go to the phone, select "Household" and then "Dismiss Butler Service." That way, if ever he is assigned again to you (which will happen if you dismiss the replacement), there is no bad blood between you.
How To Handle Your Butler
Well, you don't really have to. You're their master, not the other way around. They can take care of themselves. They only have three needs: Hunger, Energy and Fun. Assigning a bed to them accomplishes Energy. You don't also have to worry about Hunger as they can cook for themselves without dipping into your household funds. The best thing about that is they cook for the whole family.
For Fun, butlers will use the computer, read or even take a drink from the bar. They usually do this if your Sims are asleep or at work. They become embarrassed when they're caught not doing their job even if it's their free time.
Make sure you also have a small garden in The Sims 4 to keep your butler occupied. Just plant some seeds and let him take care of them. If there's nothing else to do in your house, all counters have been cleaned and everything's working, your butler will at least help you raise plants you can use for moneymaking.
So there's everything you need to know about butlers. You can interact with him like a normal person - you can even marry him! However, you will have to fire him first before you ask him to move in with you. How are you enjoying The Sims 4: Vintage Glamour Stuff so far? Got a butler yet?
