As “The Vampire Diaries” nears its season 8 finale, the vampire series is still surrounded with rumors, particularly that of Nina Dobrev’s return. Reportedly, the Bulgarian actress and her bad blood with former beau and co-star Ian Somerhalder is the very reason as to why her comeback in the popular series is not coming to fruition. Despite theories of Dobrev’s appearance in the show’s final season, it is likely that she will snub her promise to showrunner Julie Plec of making at least a cameo for “The Vampire Diaries” season 8.
Plec will surely be devastated of their previous agreement should Nina fail to reprise her role. The fans of the show have also expressed their high hopes that a Dalena reunion will happen. With Somerhalder’s blunt refusal of her return, chances are slim that Nina will be back.
“[Nina’s] said she would [come back] and I want her. So honestly it becomes a matter of logistics,” Plec said in an interview.
The lovely actress has a full plate with her tv guestings and her recent casting in the new film "XXX: Return of Xander Cage” opposite famous actors Vin Diesel and Samuel Jackson. New reports surfaced that she objects the idea of reappearing in “TVD” as she wants to keep her focus in doing more movies than starring in tv roles.
At this writing, Nina has not yet commented on the issues thrown at her. But her ex-boyfriend has something to say about their characters.
“Honestly, I think the best thing for Mystic Falls would be for these guys and all of these vampires and witches to just go away. Let Elena wake up and have these boys gone and never know any of this happened. A phenomenal, go humanity thing would be where these creatures don’t win,” Ian said.
Does Damon’s statements hint his death? Could this be another cause of Dobrev’s refusal of joining the program’s final run?
“I’ve created so much death and so much violence on this show that I think it would be such an amazing win for humanity if Damon and Stefan just went bye-bye. Let’s hope it happens,” Nikki Reed’s husband added.
If Ian’s hope will be realized, then the avid followers of the show are in for a grand treat as it equates Nina’s comeback. Also, the CBS drama will earn an impressive viewership considering that further rumors will spark Nina’s exciting return plus it add’s more thrill in the storyline of the series. To recall, “TVD” is said to end with 8 seasons only because of its steady decline in tv ratings.
One thing remains true. “The Vampire Diaries,” from its first installment, has always entertained its audience with a variety of emotions.
