Preview Of Skype Voice Translation App Works Now With Phone Calls

The latest version of Skype Preview for Windows 10 PC Insider testers has added Skype Translator support for mobile and landline phone calls.

Skype Translator

According to ZDNet, the latest Skype Preview app has added the ability to use Skype Translator on calls to landlines and mobile. The details are explained by Microsoft on its Skype product blog.

Skype Translator was available up until now only to individuals making Skype-to-Skype calls. The announcement of the expansion of Skype Translator to landlines and mobiles on Dec. 8 makes the application more widely available.

Those users who want to test drive the application need to be members of the Windows Insider Program. They also need to have Skype Credits or a subscription and to install the latest version of Skype Preview on their Windows 10 PCs.

According to PC World, the extension of Skype real-time translation capability to phone calls will make it much easier to use the application. Skype translation to mobiles and landlines sounds like a great addition, however, this is still a preview feature so we can expect some hiccups.

Skype Translation app currently supports nine spoken languages. Among them are included French, English, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Mandarin, and Russian.

Other New Features

More features have been added to the latest version of Skype Preview app for Windows 10 Insiders. The application comes with the ability to introduce friends and family on Skype by sharing Skype Contact details.

Conversations can be marked as read or unread. Users are also able to capture and share video messages on Skype, even when they are offline. Calls can be forwarded to landlines or mobiles.

Previously, back in 2015, Microsoft announced its intention to integrate Skype Translator into the desktop versions of Skype for Windows. Tech experts expect that the application will come to instant message conversations, as well as audio and video calls.
