Battle Of Supremacy: Toyota RAV4 vs Honda CR-V

The Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V have been rivals for a very long time. In fact, the two crossovers have been doing battle for more than 20 years. Year in and year out, the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V are locked in a battle of supremacy. Which one will be victorious this time?

Under The Hood Of The Crossovers

Under the hood of the Toyota RAV4 is the same engine it had that delivers 176 horsepower paired with a six-speed automatic transmission as reported by Motoring Crunch. It was noted in the same report that there will be an option for a hybrid engine but details regarding its capabilities have not been mentioned. Meanwhile, the Honda CR-V is coming with a 2.4-liter inline-4 and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that deliver 184 and 190 horsepower respectively. The Honda CR-V's engines are paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) as reported.

Interiors Of The Crossovers

In any kind of vehicle, the interior is an aspect that is just as important as the exterior. Apparently, this is an area where the Toyota RAV4 has an advantage over the Honda CR-V. As reported, versatility, comfort and room are all qualities both crossovers possess. However, it appears that more people prefer the Toyota RAV4 in terms of interior. Jon Linkov, an editor for Consumer Reports Autos stated that some of the reasons people like the RAV4 are because of its roomy interior and strong reliability.

Fuel Economy And Safety

The Toyota RAV4 also managed to gain the upper hand in terms of fuel economy and safety aspects. Reports state that the Toyota RAV4 scores 31 miles per gallon while the Honda CR-V only managed to score 24 miles per gallon. Accordingly, both crossovers have their fair share of safety features but the Toyota RAV4 once again came out on top. "Toyota offers a lot of their active safety features like automatic emergency braking and forward-collision warning. That's available on all the line, whereas the Honda they only put it on the top two trims," said Linkov in a report.

The Winner

The Honda CR-V clearly has more power than the Toyota RAV4. However, the latter has more to offer in the other aspects. For the time being, the winner in this battle of supremacy between the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V is the RAV4. Although, the driving experience is still the best judge and that is not something determinable by figures on a spec sheet.
