It seems like the “Dragon Ball” universe has been revived. It has been reported that a new manga novel has been published spinning off from the original series. And the said manga starred one of the main protagonists in the original story.
The latest issue of Shueisha’s “Shounen Jump” manga magazine as well as its official website has released the official publication of a new manga starring Yamcha from “Dragon Ball”. The said spinoff manga novel was titled “Dragon Ball Gaiden: Tensei Shitara Yamcha Datta Ken”, which roughly translates to “Dragon Ball Side Story: The Case of Being Reincarnated As Yamcha”. The said manga was created and drawn by Dragon Garow Lee but has credited the original creator of the “Dragon Ball” series, Akira Toriyama.
The manga revolves around a new story wherein an ordinary high school boy who got into an accident after he fell off a flight of stairs, gets reincarnated. He is reincarnated as Yamcha and sees himself getting sucked into the world of the “Dragon Ball” series. The reincarnated Yamcha sets off on his journey as the main protagonist of the story with the boy’s few knowledge on the events of the “Dragon Ball” manga.
It was said that the title of the manga was actually a parody of the manga, “The Case of Being Reincarnated As A Slime”, which is about a man, who was murdered getting reincarnated as a slime monster. Nonetheless, fans are excited to see that Yamcha in his own story and finally where he is actually depicted strong. Yamcha, though the main protagonist in the “Dragon Ball” series and a fairly strong earthling, had time and time again been beaten down in the main story even by nameless opponents.
The “Dragon Ball” manga series have run for many years when it was first officially published in November 1984 then ended its run with 45 volumes by May 1995. Though the manga series have ended, the anime series adaptation continues to this day. The anime had started in 1986 and spawned five seasons with various titles, namely “Dragon Ball”, “Dragon Ball Z”, “Dragon Ball GT”, Dragon Ball Z Kai”, and the current one, “Dragon Ball Super”.
