Music social media service Soundcloud Wednesday launched its new premium subscription plans, which give users metrics features not available in the free basic plan and up to unlimited storage. The website is promoting the plans with a 14-day free trial.
Soundcloud Pro lets subscribers post four hours of audio and costs 3 euro ($3.88) a month or 29 euro ($37.51) per year. Pro Unlimited allows unlimited posting but will run users 9 euro ($11.64) a month or 99 euro ($128.07) per year. Under the Unlimited plan, single sound file sizes are capped at 2GB and total sound upload time per week is limited to 30 hours.
Both new plans are designed to give the users more flexibility and to fully customize their profiles to feature their best music and audio at the top of their profiles. While the service already allows counting of plays, downloads, comments and likes, Pro plans will distill the information further into who's listening and their locations.
Also available are comprehensive stats about where the sounds are embedded, linked to and shared. Soundcloud is also in beta on additional features but these are only being offered to brands, music and audio publishers.
As The Verge reports, Snoop Lion (a/k/a Snoop Dogg) is one of SoundCloud's new Pro Partners and the company hopes to capitalize on and expand its profile. The service has established itself as a hub for artists and fans to connect — artists with fans, artists with artists, and fans with fans. Snoop Lion is said to have met Polish pop singer Iza Lach on SoundCloud, eventually signing her to his label.
