Mario's first adventure into mobile made it into the top spot on the Free Apps chart yesterday. Even if this is a free download, players would still have to pay $9.99/£ 9.99 to enjoy the full game. The US store is not the only place where the game ranked at the top spot. It also took only seven hours to hit in 62 countries.
Tracking firm Apptopia said that Super Mario Run exceeded the download rate of Pokemon Go during day one since it has an install base of 2.85 million as compared to Pokemon Go's 900,000 download within the period of 24 hours. G.I. biz notes that Super Mario Run has a worldwide launch, contrary to the slow release of Pokemon Go.
Nintendo's stock shares fell to 5% today after the launching of the mobile title. When the market closed in Tokyo, their share went back up by 1%. There was a suggestion from the investors about the overpriced title. This is the primary reason why their share dropped.
Apple made a constant promotion of Super Mario Run in the App Store. In fact, Apple have received over 20 million notification requests once the app was made available. Meanwhile, there was a service issue in the App Store last Thursday evening during the time when Apple released notifications about the App, however it is not clear whether the issue was related to this. The company did not release comments about it, according to VG 247.
On the other hand, the rise of Pokemon Go was a surprise since Niantic only spent minimal efforts for the marketing of the game. Although there was a difference in the download estimates of its initial downloads, the game is still a hit within a few days after it is launched.
