Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Hungarian-born actress who likes to call people "Dahlink," is dead. Reports say that she died Sunday in Los Angeles. She was probably 99 and the cause is reportedly due to heart failure. The actress was known for her revolving-door marriages, and her glamor personality. Her popularity was somehow boosted by her multiple marriages to millionaires and tycoons.
Gabor Enjoyed Modest Success In Show Business
She has enjoyed modest success in the movies and television and her unique personality has kept her in the limelight all these years. A statement from Edward Lozzi, her on-and-off representative said; "Zsa Zsa Gabor was one tough cookie. Her beautiful lips and mouth would also be her worst enemy when and if she turned on the verbal machine gun. Most of her problems originated from that beautiful mouth."
Gabor was suffering from health problems after she was hospitalized due to a fall in July 2010. She had undergone hip replacement surgery but was re-admitted to the hospital because of blood clots and swelling. Her right leg has contracted gangrene and most of it had to be amputated.
She Was Married At Least Eight Times
Gabor belonged to a time when the word "socialite" doesn't yet have its negative connotation as it has today. She was married at least eight times including her marriage with hotel magnate Conrad Hilton. She calls everyone "Dahlink" while flaunting her rich-and-famous lifestyle. Her way of living was abetted by willing tabloid headline writers and gossip columnists.
Most of her movie and TV screen portrayals are that of a well-coifed femme fatale with plunging neckline. Many of her appearances lately were in cameo roles. Her career started when she was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936. But she was still strong and active in the 1990s. She was the last of the Gabor sisters, Eva and Magda who have passed away earlier. Gabor is survived by her husband, Prinz von Anhalt.
