The CW's upcoming teen drama series "Riverdale" has recently released a new promo video that reveals a lot about its anticipated storyline. The plotline revolving around the famous characters of Archie Comics will be altered to fit the modern day setting.
Avid readers who are waiting for the series have seen segments in the new trailer released on Friday, Dec. 16. In the clip, a stunned Archie can be seen with a distracted Betty in a milkshake parlor. A small stir was caused as Veronica approached them to ask if they were from Riverdale as Archie could not help but admire Veronica's charm. It can also be seen that the approach taken by the new "Riverdale" promo video features a more mature side.
The story's characters will be brought to life by K.J. Apa playing as Archie Andrews, Camile Mendes as Veronica Lodge and Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper. The love triangle between the three main characters has always been the gist of the story. Archie Comics has published two series entitled "Archie Marries Betty" and "Archie Marries Veronica" which give avid readers a peek into the lives of the three if they turned out differently.
The "Riverdale" series was initially taken by Fox but since the network did not pursue the project, it was then moved to CW. The new handlers of the series have officially ordered a pilot scheduled on Jan. 26, 2017. The comic-inspired series is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.
The rest of the "Riverdale" cast include Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Luke Perry as Fred Andrews, Madelaine Petsch as Cherry Blossom, Sarah Habel as Ms. Grundy, Ross Butler as Reggie Mantle, Casey Cott as Kevin Keller, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Shannon Purser as Ethel Muggs and Robin Givens as Mayor Sierra McCoy.
