Verizon Releases Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update For Motorola DROID RAZR And RAZR Maxx

Android fans in the U.S. who own Motorola's DROID RAZR and/or RAZR Maxx smartphones can finally rejoice as carrier Verizon is now pushing out the much-awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean for its subscribers.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Motorola DROID RAZR and Motorola DROID RAZR Maxx from Verizon brings several bug fixes and improvements users' way.

"We are pleased to announce the new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software upgrade for the DROID RAZR by Motorola. The software upgrade (version.98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US) includes numerous enhancements and improvements," states an official post on Motorola's support forum.

The software upgrade will bring several enhancements and a new feel for DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx users, thanks to the new user interface (UI) which brings animations, new fonts, icons and more. Moreover, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software upgrade also brings the much-touted Google Now feature. This feature enables users to get real-time notifications about weather, traffic etc.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software update also brings improvements to older features like voice search, gallery, camera, notifications, Wi-Fi Hotspot, keyboard etc. The upgrade brings fixes to Google Maps, Outlook Sync, Quick Office, and more.

The Verizon-exclusive update removes some of the widgets and apps that were available in the earlier Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS. This means that with Android 4.1.2, users will not get Verizon video on-demand apps and widgets like Picture Slideshow, Sticky Note and Social Location.

Moreover, both the Motorola DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx smartphones, which were running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) for a while now will not be able to downgrade to ICS.

"You cannot downgrade back to Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) software after this upgrade. For a successful installation, we recommend installing this update when the battery in your phone is at least 50% charged and you are connected to a Wi-Fi network," notes Motorola.

Have you received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on your Motorola DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx smartphones yet?
