LG Optimus L9 users: you can officially welcome Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and say goodbye to that Ice Cream Sandwich. If you're in Europe, that is. Do they eat ice cream sandwiches in Europe? No matter.
The Jelly Bean update has a build designated V20B and is available using Firmware-Over-the-Air.
LG dropped the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on Monday and it's available now to users in Germany, France, Italy Greece, Spain, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Portugal:
"We are pleased to inform all users of Optimus L9 which started the distribution of Jelly Bean upgrade for Optimus L9. At the time the update is now available for the open market. While in Italy Optimus L9 is distributed exclusively by the operators, it is possible that some users who purchased the first Optimus L9 distributed case received the upgrade to Jelly Bean in open market. Updates to Jelly Bean customized for operators will be distributed after you have completed the approval process for the operator."
Good luck deciphering it, but that's the official statement from LG. If you can't make heads nor tails of what they're talking about, or just prefer to MacGyver things, you can go to the XDA official thread to manually flash your device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
As reported by IBTimes, here's a quick rundown of what the XDA-hosted firmware gets you, which is available in .kdz format:
- Unlocked bootloader
- QSlide 2.0
- Pinch-to-zoom text, gallery previews, email, address book
- USB audio
- Latest Google security patches
