In February, a comparison of images taken by the cameras of the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 720 and HTC One in low-light conditions set the stage for determining the power performer smartphone. In the video, the Nokia Lumia 920 edged out rivals easily, trumping even the much-touted UltraPixel camera of the HTC One.
The Lumia 920 is back again to challenge rivals in the contest of the better low-light compatible smartphone and this time around, it is facing off against Samsung's 2012 flagship, the best-selling Galaxy S3.
Finnish smartphone maker Nokia has upped the ante and has released a video that compares the video-capturing abilities of the Lumia 920 and Galaxy S3. The battle of the ecosystems has begun, and it is Windows Phone 8 versus Android.
The 54-second long video takes a look at the low-light capabilities of both the smartphones in a side-by-side comparison.
"Choose the Nokia Lumia 920 and never miss a moment!" tom-toms Nokia in the video.
Interestingly, the video was released on March 14, the same day the next-gen Galaxy S4 was launched. Perhaps, Nokia hoped that consumers would mistake the Galaxy S3 to be the successor Galaxy S4 instead, especially since it's hard to tell the two apart unless they are seen right next to each other.
"Nokia is still trying to take the wind out of Samsung's Galaxy S4 sails, and have uploaded the above video emphasising the much better low-light performance of the Nokia Lumia 920 vs what is clearly a Samsung Galaxy S 3 (but of course could be a 4, given that they look near identical, except for size)," notes a WMPoweruser report.
The low-light comparison video trails the footsteps of a guy and the split screen captures the video movements. The man is shown tailing a woman (at night) who gives out her number on a piece of paper before popping into a cab, which he is shown snapping from both his Galaxy S3 and Lumia 920 phone camera simultaneously. The image from the Lumia 920 is quite clear, whereas the one taken from the Galaxy S3 is indiscernible.
