The Winter Update is finally live in Clash of Clans but some players now hate the new event which according to them, "lead to some imbalances" in the system. As we move on, we will be answering the question, is the Winter Update truly healthy for the community?

The latest update offers a whole lot of contents, events and game changes which suit perfectly for the holidays but instead of excitement, some players took a different approach on the Winter Update. In a Reddit thread, you can see that many maxed out or near-max players are complaining about the Winter Update mainly because of the numerous reduction cost on upgrades for the Heroes (Barbarian King and Archer Queen), units and buildings.
According to some high-end players, the Upgrade Discounts disrupts the balance of the game as it enables casual players to easily catch up with them - who had been grinding a lot in the past several months. Here is the full Upgrade Discounts for the event:

Archer Queen levels 26-40
Wall levels 10-11
Wizard Tower levels 3-9
Clan Castle levels 5-6

As you can see, Winter Update brought new level caps for Heroes, walls, etc. which you can see here. Based on the changes, you can clearly see how the Upgrade Discounts affect the majority of maxed out players as they will undergo on another grind while players underneath are enjoying the discounts which further closes the gap in-between. According to some, the update robs them of their efforts as they've dedicated a considerable amount of time in the game in order to reach where they are today and suddenly, one event enables casual players to instantly cover the entirety of those efforts.
While the maxed out players complain, it's important to note that the majority of the community aren't hardcore players and thus, haven't reached maxed out village yet. This means that overall, the event did serve its purpose and that is, to make the majority happy for the holiday season. This is why many casual players are now arguing over the complaints of the Upgrade Discount feature - which for them, greatly helped boost their in-game experience.
