A new "Iron Man 3" trailer has surfaced, featuring plenty of action and indicating some key plot details (spoilers ahead).
The trailer follows Tony Stark after he almost dies in "The Avengers" and into his falling apart at the hands of Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley. Highlights include Stark ushering in the "Iron Legion" army of Iron Man suits. We already knew that the film was going to take a more serious look at Tony Stark and display a fresh version of The Mandarin. These two points are further expounded on in the trailer, which also includes plenty of action.
The trailer also, however, appears to spoil a pretty big moment in the film, showing the apparent death of Tony's bodyguard Happy Hogan. Hogan is played by Jon Favreau, who directed the first two "Iron Man" movies.
Other moments include clips of Iron Man looking pretty beaten up and showing signs of remorse. Guy Pearce appears as the evil scientist, as does Pepper Potts, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, in familiar dire situations. There's also a moment where Rhodey, played by Don Cheadle, makes a panicked phone call, seemingly just before the Air Force One attack scene.
"Iron Man 3" is scheduled to be released on May 3. It is directed by Shane Black with a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black. It is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. The film is produced by Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige with Jon Favreau, Louis D'Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz as executive producers.
Iron Man first appeared in the comic book "Tales of Suspense" (#39) in 1963. He made his solo debut in the comic book "The Invincible Iron Man" (#1) in May, 1986.
