The upcoming refresh of the Apple iMac lineup is a release that has been highly-anticipated by the tech community and users alike, considering that the latest model was last updated two years ago. As recent reports suggest, the Cupertino-based tech company is developing a high performance and top-of-the-line technology for the All-In-One desktop computer, which also explains the delay.
iMac 2017 Release Date
As the recently concluded Apple October event (Hello Again) came and went without any mentions of a new iMac device, speculations say that that the earliest month that we could be able to see the update is on March 2017. The delay has been rumored to be due to its processor and other internal specifications upgrade that would provide the Apple iMac 2017 with a Virtual Reality functionality.
Is Apple finally entering VR arena?
If rumors are going to be believed, the Apple iMac 2017 will be incorporated with AMD's Radeon Polaris as its graphics card. With this built in, the new iMac would definitely be VR-ready, thus, marking Apple's first stride towards the VR arena, as per the report. This is just the right path that Apple would be taking, considering that most of the company's competitors are also already venturing into the said technology.
According to reports, AMD has already earned itself a contract with Apple, but the much-talked-about graphics card will only be available for the 27-inch variant of the upcoming Apple iMac 2017. The 21.5-inch, according to other reports, is going to be using an integrated graphics card from Intel.
With all things said, it seems that the Apple iMac 2017 is definitely going to be a massive refresh from the traditional iMacs of the past.
iMac 2017 Processor and other specs to check out
With regards to the processor that will be used for the Apple iMac 2017, several rumors have noted that the Apple's plan is not quite clear as of the moment, as has been rumored that it is planning to integrate the Kaby Lake processors. The said processor, however, is yet to be released next year.
Other processor options that Apple could go for
Since Apple is leaning towards waiting on chip makers and suppliers to produce some updated and refreshed processors for the future, Apple might opt towards going with the Intel Xeon instead, as other rumors have suggested.
Will the iMac get any thinner?
With regards to the external design of the computer, there hasn't been much talk and legit information going on, but could the already ultra-thin slim-bodied design of the Apple devices get any thinner than it already is? With that being said, iMac Fans should definitely watch out for that.
More updates and details on the iMac coming soon
Along with the upcoming refreshed iPad lineup, whether it will be the iPad Pro 2 or the iPad Mini 5 that Apple will be launching next year, the iMac 2017 is heavily expected to finally be unveiled during the upcoming Apple March 2017 event. For the meantime, stay tuned for more exciting updates about the much-awaited iMac 2017.
