LG G5: 2016's 'Most Repairable' Phone

The iFixit team does a lot of tearing down over the year, from gadgets to voice assistants and even on earbuds. The teardowns are a way to let us know what parts went into the making of a particular device, what could have been the possible production cost and how difficult or easy it is to repair.

They've laid hands on nearly every big-name device to come out in 2016. They have put together how some of the bigger names stack up on when it comes to repairability. iFix stated the most and least repairable devices they ended up breaking into throughout the year.

There are all kinds of things we take into consideration when you choose a new smartphone. Specs are of course one of the important things to consider first, along with its operating system, and the accompanying ecosystem. However, there are also other things to factor in, such as repairability. The main reason is that sometimes you don't want to end up spending a huge amount of cash to get a phone fixed. The LG G5 may not have garnered the lion's share of love from critics or sales in 2016, and also it is the easiest phone to repair.

People who are good at the business of taking things apart and putting them back together again, well iFixit gave a repairability score of 8 on a 10 point scale in their 2016 roundup. They reported that the removable back and battery and modular components and the circuit boards inside also not the outer modules in this case as the reason why it's so easy to take the smartphone apart.

Things like standard screws and easy-to-remove screens also garner points in the judging, on the other hand, excessive adhesive, soldered components and also the complex opening procedures make the process harder and result in a lower score.
