Australia Weather: Adelaide Storm Causes Power Outage

Australian weather today says a powerful storm has landed in South Australia. A second wave of heavy rain along with thunderstorms has stretched down over the state's north. But it was not expected to be severe overnight.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology. This warning is in the North East and North West Pastoral districts, as well as the Flinders, Mid North and Eastern Eyre Peninsula.

The director of the BOM regional director, said that there are potential for the thunderstorm to form further south as well. He added that if it will, they will be severe thunderstorms conducive to heavy falls and damaging winds.

Deputy chief officer Dermot Barry of the State Emergency Service said, people in Adelaide should be alert for possible flooding.

The Australia weather earlier today was really a bad condition.

According to News Locker, earlier today, more than 125,000 properties became affected by power outages after a powerful storm rolled through Adelaide overnight.

And in Morphettville in the city's south, two boys had to be rescued from the flood waters. Mr. Barry said that the two boys were playing in the creek as they do the water isolated them. They were able to put a ladder down and secure the boys out that way.

Floodwaters across the metropolitan region after the front of an intense low pressure system hit about midnight, caused several drivers stranded.

According to ABC News, SA Emergency Services Minister Peter Malinauskas urged drivers not to drive through flood waters and to take care on the roads.

"We've already seen a number of lives lost in Australia this year as a result of people attempting to drive through flood waters," he said.

He added that there were 17,000 emergency service volunteers present across the state and it had been their "busiest year on record."
