Overwatch Is The Best-Selling PC Game Of 2016; Beating Out CS:GO And Fallout 4

2016 saw the release of a lot of new game titles, but none have made quite the same impact as that of Blizzard's Overwatch. News has it that Overwatch is now the best-selling paid PC game of the year and it has beat out other big titles like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Minecraft and Fallout 4.

The figures come from SuperData, which has ranked the best-selling games of the year 2016. According to AttackoftheFanboy, Overwatch was able to bring in $585.6M since its release and CS:GO, which came out in second place, was only able to get $257.2M. Other titles that have made it to the top are Guild Wars 2 ($91M), Minecraft ($88.7M) and Fallout 4 ($74.9M).

Overwatch was considered to be such a massive hit ever since its release and has solidified itself as one of the biggest team-based first-person shooters. Though some have criticized it to being very similar to that of older games like Team Fortress 2 and Battleborn, the franchise is still well appreciated for its addictive gameplay and memorable characters -even overshadowing older titles in the genre.

As of now, the game is on sale for $20 dollars off, giving it a price tag of $39.99 (from $59.99). Since it is the Origins Edition of the game, players will also be able to access extras like five origin skins for characters Pharah, Soldier 76, Reaper, Bastion and Tracer, as well as digital extras to other Blizzard games like World of Warcraft, Diablo III and Heroes of the Storm. Eager gamers should not slack off on the sale either since it is only available until Jan. 3, 2017.

As of now, Overwatch is in full holiday mode with the Winter Wonderland event that brings all new skins, emotes and game modes like Winter Mystery and Mei's Snowball Offensive. Winter Wonderland lasts until Jan. 2, 2017.
