Apparently, the publishers are offering these new contents in exchange for Steam votes. The announcement was titled, "Introducing the Ovis, vote for ARK in Steam Awards 'Best Use Of A Farm Animal' on Dec 29 to get it!"
ARK: Survival Evolved Players Reaction
The members of the gaming community on both Reddit and Steam made a lot of negative comments about the original post as it promotes bribery. It also inflicts an idea of not having it released unless the game wins the awards. According to them, being an Early Access game, the developers should focus on improving and fixing the game instead of releasing paid DLCs and contents.
Meanwhile, ARK: Survival Evolve deleted the announcement and made a new post. They said that the contents will still be released regardless of whether ARK wins a Steam Award or not. The game is currently under 60% discount on Steam.
