Windows 10 Game Mode: Upcoming Feature Will Have Huge Impact To PC And Xbox Gamers

Windows 10 Game Mode is a feature that Microsoft is reportedly developing. A data miner got the leak from the recent Windows 10 build 14997.

Spotted "gamemode.dll" in Windows 10 Code

Twitter user WalkingCat recently posted his discovery of a certain file named "gamemode.dll". The game mode feature is not working yet even in the unreleased Windows 10 build. There are indication though, that a working version will be included in the upcoming Creators Update.

How Will Game Mode Work

Microsoft has not release anything specific about what the upcoming feature will do. It's safe to say that the Windows 10 game mode will greatly benefit PC players. Industry observers have also presented their theories on what to expect from this mode.

The Windows 10 game mode is expected to function like an Xbox OS in managing a game. It's in charge of managing the system's resources to make sure that the game will run as smoothly as possible. Still, game mode's technical spec and capability remains unclear. IT Experts are not sure if the feature will only work on Windows Store exclusive games. There is also the possibility that the upcoming mode will cover all Win32 version games. This will mean that all Steam and Origin games are also covered

For now, the Windows 10 game mode seems bent on removing the distinction of playing games on either the Xbox consoles or PC. Soon, players will have the liberty of playing video games on both platforms using a single version. Such an advantage may allow Microsoft to dominate the gaming market and should cause worry for Sony and its PlayStation console.

This is seen a Microsoft's continuing effort to make the Windows 10 similar to Java in terms of connectivity. This means that all Windows PC, tablets, Xbox One consoles and even smartphones can soon communicate with each other using the same OS.
