Here's Proof Why Resident Evil 7 Is A Sequel

Those who have seen all the released teaser trailers for Resident Evil 7 have noticed the obvious that this latest installment of the Resident Evil franchise is far different than its predecessors. The most obvious, however, is making the game into a first-person shooter making fans think that the game is a reboot. However, there are many evidences why the upcoming game is a sequel and not a reboot.

Aside from the fact that it has used a first-person perspective, the new Resident Evil 7 game is missing another major element - zombies. In their place are deranged hillbillies who have a penchant for eating human flesh. Despite these stark differences, the core gameplay will definitely tie in to the whole Resident Evil story and will be very familiar than players can imagine.

The fact that it was not a reboot was confirmed by Resident Evil 7 producer Masachika Kawata himself via an interview with the Game Informer. He mentioned that it might look like a reboot but if one looks closely, the new Resident Evil 7 game surely draws on its original roots where the puzzles, combats, exploration, and even the element of horror are all there.

He also explained the reason why they made it into a first-person shooter saying that they want to bring something new to the table, something that would greatly impact the players because it will be more personal and immersive. Moreover, they want to make the element much stronger in Resident Evil 7 but on the other hand, they also want the feeling of relief to be as strong when players get out of an impossibly scary situation.

Finally, when asked why they gave such few spoilers, Kawata said that by doing so, it will lose the element of fear and players will lose interest if they know a lot already.
