Windows Phone handsets are getting very popular after the launch of Windows Phone 8 (WP8) and the rollout of Windows Phone 7.8 software update. U.S. carrier Sprint has now put up a landing page on its website indicating that Windows Phone devices will soon arrive at the network.
Currently, all other major carriers in the U.S. offer Windows Phone handsets and customers on Sprint will soon be able to lay their hands on Windows Phone-powered smartphones.
"Sprint plans to offer a pair of Windows Phone 8 smartphones by summer 2013. These initial devices will offer a robust operating system and lots of innovative features, all enhanced by Sprint's Truly UnlimitedSM Data plans, all while on the Sprint network. Here's what to expect from Windows Phone 8," notes Sprint.
In 2011, Sprint carried the Windows Phone-powered HTC Arrive, but the device did not attract many customers. Even though Sprint has confirmed that it will carry WP8 smartphones, the carrier has not confirmed the handsets which it plans to offer.
"Windows Phone 8 helps connect Sprint customers to the people and information that matters most. With a similar look and feel, the same core technology, and the same built-in SkyDrive cloud service, Windows Phone 8 is built to work seamlessly with Windows 8 computers, Microsoft Surface devices and the Xbox 360 console," Sprint said.
Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Huawei manufacture WP8 smartphones and currently there are just a handful of WP8 smartphones available in the market. Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the most popular WP8 smartphone available in the market and recent rumors indicate that Verizon will also offer a high-end WP8 smartphone manufactured by Nokia.
