‘Pokemon GO' Releases New Year Updates, Limited Gifts Up For Grabs

The New Year has swept in a lot of hopes from gamers all over the world and Niantic Inc. is making sure that the players of “Pokemon GO” greet 2017 with a smile. In celebration of the New Year that just came up, the developer has released gifts that can be availed this month.

Niantic Inc. has surprised users of the popular mobile game application, “Pokemon GO” when it dropped in-game gifts without prior notice. The said developer gave away special boxes during the Christmas season from Dec. 25 to Dec. 30, namely Special, Great, and Ultra boxes along with other freebies. But with the New Year approaching, it released a new update on Dec. 31.

The New Year update replaced the Christmas freebies update with a whole new set of boxes, which are categorized into Gold, Silver, and Bronze boxes. These wrapped presents contain useful freebies such as Pokeballs, Great Balls, incense, lucky eggs, and lure modules. The New Year freebies will be available from Dec. 31 until Jan. 3 this year.

In addition to the New Year update, Niantic Inc. has revealed that it has made some adjustments that will last until Jan. 8 this year to the features of the mobile game that users around the world will surely appreciate. First of all, the duration of the lure modules has been extended from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, which simply means more time to catch more pocket monsters. The other update during this special event is that the first partners and their evolutions in “Pokemon GO” will show up more often than before and the pocket monsters that will be making more in-game appearances are Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and their evolved forms namely Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmeleon, Charizard, Wartortle, and Blastoise.

“Pokemon GO” is a mobile game application developed and released by Niantic Inc. in 2016, which has become a phenomenon and has made a great impact on the gaming industry. It has created milestones that became for games created for mobile devices.
