The much-rumored Motorola-made X Phone for Google is in the news again and rumors point to a November release for the smartphone.
According to a Phone Arena report, the X Phone will release in time for the 2013 holiday season and not June or July, as previous rumors have suggested. Phone Arena was also tipped off regarding the X Phone's alleged specs.
"Our in-box had a nice surprise tonight as one of our tipsters reported to us what is supposedly the specs for the Motorola X." notes a Phone Arena report.
The X Phone has been a favorite of the rumor mill and speculations regarding the Motorola-made handset for Google have been flying thick and fast. The Phone Arena report indicates that the X Phone will be a top-end handset and pack in a 4.8-inch display with Sapphire Glass instead of the traditional Gorilla Glass. Sapphire Glass is said to be three times harder to crack than Gorilla Glass and, therefore, points to a robust device from Motorola.
Moreover, the X Phone will be water-resistant and have a carbon fiber back case and the "corners will be made with rubber bumpers." The smartphone will supposedly house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, which is clocked at 2GHz, as well as a 4000mAh battery.
Previous rumors have buzzed that the X Phone will have customizable hardware (ROM, storage and color) and be a family of handsets just like Samasung's Galaxy line-up. The personalization features of the impending X Phone got more attention when Motorola's advisor Guy Kawasaki hinted via a Google+ post that the future handsets from the company could come with customizable options.
Following his comment, reports suggested that the X Phone will not be customizable, so users are still in the dark about this aspect. The current report does not shed any light on the customizable aspect.
If the rumored specs of the Motorola X Phone bear fruition, then the device could very well take on Samsung's newest flagship, the Galaxy S4. With a November release in the cards, chances are the X Phone will have to contend with competition from the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy Note 3 as well.
