It looks like Square Enix has quite the year ahead of them as they are currently being eyed for the release of Kingdom Hearts III and the Final Fantasy VII. Another franchise under their belt is Dragon Quest, and this year will have the release of Dragon Quest 11. News has it that the developers are working on the two different versions of the game for the PS4 and Nintendo 3DS.
According to Gaming Bolt, Dragon Quest 11 will have the same premise and story, but the way the games will be played will be entirely different depending on which platform it's on. Nintendo Everything reports that Koichi Sugiyama has also said that though the game may have the same tunes for both the 3DS and the PS4, the arrangement will be completely different. That would mean that players can log in to the same game on different consoles to be able to enjoy a whole different experience with Dragon Quest 11.
Some have also been curious as to whether they will also be able to get Dragon Quest 11 on the upcoming Nintendo Switch, and though the game may arrive to the console, Sugiyama has yet to comment if the game will also be getting its own unique arrangement for the Switch. Best bets are it will be closer to the Nintendo 3DS version since they are from the same company.
Dragon Quest was a series released back in 1986, and it has been going on swimmingly for the past 30 years. "Dragon Ball Z" fans will recognize the familiar art style of manga artist Akira Toriyama - only instead of the usual hodgepodge of clunky technology, Dragon Quest has a more medieval-fantasy vibe.
Dragon Quest 11 is slated for a release in Japan this year, but there has yet to be an announcement for the U.S. release date. Considering how big the franchise is, the U.S. release won't be far behind the Japanese one.
