Now that the calendar year has changed, smartphone companies are already prepping up new phones to launch this year. We all know that most of the mainstream smartphone makers launch a new flagship phone year after year so there’s no way that 2017 will be any different. With that said, here’s a list of 2017 flagship phones that are expected to show up sometime this year.
Apple iPhone 8
Apple’s anniversary iPhone that’s currently dubbed as the iPhone 8 is expected to launch this year. Rumors say that this phone will be super premium and will come with an all-glass housing. There are reports saying that the phone’s display will be curved, much like Samsung’s Edge phone variants and there are also talks about the omission of the home button. Additionally, the iPhone 8 could also come with wireless charging support.
OnePlus 4
Right now, there still aren’t a lot of leaks and solid rumors about the next flagship killing device. What’s certain as of now is that the OnePlus 4 could still be a phablet-sized device with super competitive specs and price. The latest OnePlus device is the OnePlus 3T and it is priced at $439 and $479 depending on the variant, so it’s safe to assume that the OnePlus 4 could be somewhere around $500. This may be a leap from the $399 OnePlus 3 but it’s still way more affordable than your usual $700 plus premium flagships. Tech Radar says the OnePlus 4 could come out around mid-2017.
Microsoft Surface Phone
This is one of the anticipated flagship devices that are still uncertain. Unlike the other phones on this list, the Surface Phone doesn’t have a predecessor, its existence is still a product of leaks and rumors. Meaning, there’s still no certainty that this phone is actually in the works as Microsoft hasn’t really mentioned this phone yet. Needless to say, rumor has it that the company will shift its smartphone division to the Surface department and it was said that the alleged Surface Phone will still be a PC-level smartphone with all the techy features Microsoft has been known for.
LG V30 And LG G6
LG is also known for its flagship devices. Last year, the company impressed the people with its high-end LG V20 and according to rumors, LG will continue to refresh their V-series this 2017. However, as per leak interpretations, the LG V30 may no longer have a secondary screen. As for the LG G6, there are rumors saying that it could also sport an all-glass housing, which is practically kind of the trend in the rumored 2017 flagship smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy S8 And Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Two new Samsung flagships are expected this year. The Galaxy S8 is expected to show up earlier, around April 2017 and the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to be launched midyear. As far as rumors are concerned, it was said that the Galaxy S8 could also be ditching its 3.5 mm jack, as per GSM Arena. It is also rumored to have a Continuum-like feature and a new AI assistant. As for the Galaxy Note 8, there’s still aren’t a lot of leaks coming out about it, which is probably because the limelight is still on the Galaxy S8 that’s coming sooner than the Note 8. Nevertheless, the Note 8 is one of the most watched out for device especially since its predecessor has been in so much controversy in the last year.
