Sony Xperia TX Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean And New Sony Features

Sony launched the Xperia TX, a variant of the Xperia T, in August 2012 and now the Japanese company confirms that the handset will receive the Android. 4.1 Jelly Bean software update soon.

"As planned, this week we're starting the software rollout for our first batch of Xperia smartphones Xperia T and Xperia V, with Xperia TX following next month," says Sony.

Sony also says that "The new software brings Android 4.1 'Jelly Bean', along with a number of different and improved Sony features - the rollout will continue to ramp up over this month and next. We've been working to blend our Sony Xperia software with Google's Jelly Bean release to create optimum user experiences."

The software update will bring a more intuitive version of Sony Media apps which includes Walkman, Album and Movies. Sony says that the update will bring an "easy-on-the-eye library" that lets you view and access all your pictures, videos and tunes in one place.

The software update will also have increased options for personalization, including a revamped homescreen experience for handling widgets, apps and shortcuts. Now the homescreen will have up to seven desktop panes, widgets that auto-resize and actionable notifications. You will also have complete flexibility to create the interface you want with a few simple touches.

The update will offer an improved app organization and improved camera functionality.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will also bring Google Now to the handset, which will enable combining the power of Google search and user profiling.

You'll receive a notification in your phone when the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is ready to install on your handset. Sony says that in most cases, users will be able to download the update over-the-air (OTA) but in some instances the software package may only be accessible via PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.

The Sony Xperia TX has a slightly different design and a removable battery when compared to the Sony Xperia T. The handset sports a 4.6-inch touchscreen with 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, enhanced using Mobile BRAVIA technology. A powerful dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 225 graphics powers the handset. The handset is also equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing snapper.
