Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare Defeats Battlefield 1 In Revenues

There's no doubt Battlefield 1 has a huge following. It may even be one of the most successful games of recent memory. But hey, another title from the same genre is challenging the throne. It's no other than Activision's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. And yes, it's actually surprising especially coming from one of the most hated games last year.

According to GamingBolt, the sales of both Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 (both developed by Electronic Arts) have greatly suffered due to the rise of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Despite this ongoing process, the two titles are still, without a doubt, making enough revenues. It just so happens that they could've done it on a much wider scale.

In reality, there's actually an explanation to this, thanks to titular game analyst Michael Pachter (video embedded below). He pointed that had Titanfall 2 came a bit not close to Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a different story might have been written. In fact, doing so could've benefitted all three of the titles in terms of following and sales.

The main possible reason is the fact that Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare share the same kind of player pool. Sure, the latest Call of Duty title might have failed to accumulate a good reception at first; however, in the long run, it proved to be a success in the franchise nonetheless. (Though it didn't surpass the other games in the series). While the aforesaid titles could have made history, it's impossible to achieve as Titanfall 2 came in the middle.

EA can't be blamed, though, for releasing the Titanfall sequel close to Battlefield 1. The studio would never want to release it six weeks late from the Holiday season. However, if and only if developer Respawn was able to complete it much earlier, then there's a good chance of achieving sales success otherwise.

What are your thoughts on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare slowly surpassing Battlefield 1 in revenues? Do you play Titanfall 2, too? Which of these games is your favorite? Be sure to share us your thoughts at the comment section below!
