The Verizon variant of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus received the software update to the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean a few days ago, and now reports are surfacing that those who have installed the update are encountering issues with their smartphones.
Users who have updated their Galaxy Nexus to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean are complaining of battery issues with the smartphone. Moreover, some are also experiencing problems with the Bluetooth audio (which stutters frequently) and camera tethering.
"Ever since Verizon approved the Android 4.2.2 update for the Galaxy Nexus and Google started pushing it out, our inbox has filled up with users who are running into all sorts of issues. The most common appears to be battery life, but others are noticing issues with Bluetooth audio, the camera, tethering, and more," reports Droid-Life.
Verizon and Google pushed out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with the build JDW39 for the Galaxy Nexus on March 19. The update was 88MB in size and brought several enhancements and new features users' way, like PhotoSphere, better widget control, improved notifications, an all-new camera UI, new Google Now shortcut, Daydream, lockscreen widgets and a smarter keyboard.
Verizon suggests that users can perform a factory reset on the Galaxy Nexus to bring the battery back to what it was prior to the software update. Terrible as this option sounds, considering it will wipe your phone of every last setting, it would do the trick and resolve the battery life issue.
As for the Bluetooth audio issue, Android 4.2.2 was supposed to bring a fix but user reactions on an AOSP thread would suggest otherwise.
"After upgrading to 4.2 for my Galaxy Nexus, the sound quality from the bluetooth has degraded. The sound from the bluetooth device (in this case, LG HBS-700) has noticable static during playback music or podcast. This is not an issue when using the same equipment prior upgrading to 4.2," notes a user.
In the scenario a factory reset does not resolve your problem, you could flash the 4.2.2 factory images that released on March 28. For the uninitiated, factory images allow one to flash their phone back to a 100 percent stock state as if the device was fresh out of the box.
