Rogers Discontinues Samsung Galaxy S3 (32GB) To Make Room For Galaxy S4

While Samsung's Galaxy S4 waits in the wings for its mid-May release in Canada, it seems that the predecessor Galaxy S3 is set to be pushed to the backburner. Per reports, Canadian carrier Rogers is discontinuing the 32GB version of the Pebble Blue Galaxy S3 to make room for the Galaxy S4.

Those who were thinking of grabbing the 32GB Galaxy S3 in Pebble Blue are out of luck, as Rogers has put this decision into effect immediately. The 16GB variant of the smartphone in both white and blue are available online, as is the 32GB Marble White version of the Galaxy S3. However, the blue version is now showing as "out of stock" online.

According to the Mobilesyrup report, one may possibly find the 32GB Galaxy S3 in blue at Rogers' brick and mortar stores.

"With the imminent release of the Galaxy S4, Rogers has decided to immediately discontinue the 32GB Pebble Blue version of the GSIII. You might be able to find stock in various Rogers stores, but it's also now showing 'out of stock' online. The 16GB is still available, as the 16/32GB Marble White version," reports Mobilesyrup.

While the impending launch of the Galaxy S4 could well be a reason for discontinuing the 32GB version, it makes little sense why Rogers would stop selling the blue version but still continue stocking the 32GB version in white.

A possibility exists that the 32GB Pebble Blue version of the smartphone was not as popular as the other versions, prompting Rogers to discontinue the model. Plenty of consumers prefer to opt for the 16GB variant instead of the 32GB version, as the Galaxy S3 has an expandable memory option (via a microSD card).

Eventually, Rogers and several other carriers and retailers may pull off the Galaxy S3 from their list of offerings in favor of the newer model, the Galaxy S4. With the Galaxy S4 set to hit the Canadian shelves in mid-May, Samsung's old warhorse, the Galaxy S3, seems to be in for a bumpy ride ahead.
