Marvel just cast Robert Redford in Captain America: The Winter Solider and now they want to cast you too. In Cleveland, though.
Captain America 2 is slated for an April 4, 2014 release date and we've yet to see an official trailer, but in the meantime, an intrepid fan has given us the next best thing: a gorgeous DIY teaser trailer. The Winter Soldier teaser trailer, despite being fan-made, is pretty impressive, and if history is any indication, it's likely to trump whatever 6-second snippet Marvel releases for The Winter Soldier's first official trailer.
Marvel also recently put out a casting call for Winter Soldier extras and any junior Avengers able to make it down to Cleveland are welcome to audition. Yes - the First Avenger just asked you to go be an extra in Cleveland. Will you answer the casting call? You can afford to be picky so don't rush off to pack - Man Of Steel has resorted to casting alums from Smallville, so Zack Snyder might be in need of your services too.
This is how Robert Redford recently got cast for his role in The Winter Soldier, so take the Cleveland casting call seriously, aspiring extras. Okay, not really, but unless you're Emilio Estevez or something, the casting call is probably your best shot of scoring a part in Captain America 2. Unless you're the fan who cut together the teaser trailer at the bottom, in which case you can just CGI yourself into the movie.
Rumors about Captain America: The Winter Soldier shooting in Cleveland were first reported in September. Evidently, the rumors were true, so if you're thirsty for some face time with the First Avenger and can't wait for the sequel's 2014 release date, Marvel is happy to oblige you - provided you are 18 or over and can make the 10 a.m casting call. Anyone nine or older can tryout for Captain America 2, but if you're under 17, they don't want to deal with you in the morning, so just have mom drop off a recent headshot. If you have the chops, Marvel's people will get back to you.
Chris Evans may or may not be on set, but no matter what, you'll still get to tell your friends that Marvel paid you to be in Captain America: The Winter Solider. Here's the note from Marvel casting coordinator Maryellen Aviano, posted by the Greater Cleveland Film Commission:
