Bangladesh Tree Man Recovers His Hands After Breakthrough Surgery

Bangladesh Tree Man Abul Bajandar, a 27-year-old father and husband from a small town in Bangladesh, recovered his hands after 16 successful surgeries.

He suffered from a rare condition that caused his hands to germinate tree like warts. He lived with this condition for years before beginning surgery last February to remove the warts.

Since last February he has undergone 16 surgeries to restore his hands. But he is required to undergo more surgeries before he will be totally released from the hospital.

Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, the chief plastic surgeon at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, told CNN that Bangladesh tree man is in a very good condition now.

He added that Bajandar can now use his hands for eating and writing, eventually by going through more surgeries will make his hands' appearance enhanced.

Bajandar's condition is a rare disease called epidermodysplasia verruciformis. In fact, there are only a couple of reported cases around the world. This disease is caused by a defect in the person's immune system which increases one's susceptibility to HPV, or human papilloma virus.

Lal Sen told CNN News that the growth of the warts was noticed when he was 10. As time pass by I has already grown all over his hands.

Because of the Bangladesh Tree Man condition he was not able to continue his livelihood of being a rickshaw driver. Instead, he became an international news subject.

Before the surgeries Bangladesh Tree Man could not eat, drink, brush his own teeth nor take a bath by himself. The only thing he was capable of doing was to scratch his neck.

According to the RT News, the Bangladesh Tree Man has been receiving at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital since his condition came to the attention of doctors a year ago. His wife and daughter were living in the facility with him.

The Bangladesh Tree Man also said that all he wanted was for him to live normally again and for him to be able to hug his own daughter.
