Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Update Paused For T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

Previous reports suggested that Samsung would update its Galaxy Tab 2 tablets to Android 4.2.2 in 2013, and it seems that the device is one step closer to achieving that goal. Recently, U.S. carrier T-Mobile started pushing out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software update for Galaxy Tab 2 10.1; however, the carrier has paused the roll-out of the software update.

According to reports, the update for the T-Mobile variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 was available both over the air (OTA) as well as via Samsung KIES, but now T-Mobile has halted the roll-out until further notice.

The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software update brings Google Now to the tablet and you can also add icons to the lock screen. The software update also moves certain enhancements, such as a VPN client to the Settings Menu, while an event list frame has been added to Calendar.

Google Security Patches were added for additional security and a zooming solution in the user interface has been implemented. With the update, you can change translucent icons to non-translucent or opaque. The music player application has also been updated.

U.S. carrier Verizon has also rolled out the software update to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and there are no indications that Verizon will halt the update.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 sports a 10.1-inch WXGA PLS TFT display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution. A dual-core processor (Qualcomm MSM8960 chipset) clocked at 1.5 GHz powers the device. The tablet also features a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, and a VGA front-facing camera.

A powerful 7000mAh battery fuels the tablet. Sprint's variant of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will include 8GB of internal storage expandable to up to 64GB via a microSD. The device includes 1GB of RAM. The tablet will also have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options.

Have you received Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on your Galaxy Tab 2 10.1?
