Starting April 3, the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update began rolling out for the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity, model TF700. This new update will bring the device up to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1. Last month, the Android Jelly Bean update rolled out for another Transformer Pad, model TF300.
Users who have an unlocked Transformer Infinity running custom recovery Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) may not want to update to the new Android OS just yet. For the Asus Transformer Pad (TF300), many users experienced issues.
Warnings were released about the TF300, because many users experienced their devices hard bricking in the middle of updating. Check out the TF700 thread at the XDA Developers website for information regarding safe update procedures.
Users running stock firmware on the Transformer Pad Infinity can check their devices for the update manually. Navigating to Settings > About Tablet > System Update > Check Now should reveal onscreen update instructions. Some TF700 owners may have to be patient and wait a little while. These update roll-outs are known to occur in segments and may take time to get out to everyone. Should the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update not show up right away, it's advised to check back later.
For older models, the Transformer (TF101) and Transformer Prime (TF201), no updates have been issued yet. The TF101 is still running official version Android 4.0.3 and Asus hasn't announced update plans for this device. As Planet Android reports, there's no timetable, but Asus intends to update the TF201 to Android 4.2. Asus took to its official Facebook page to announce the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the TF700.
