An Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is rumored to be coming to the Sony Xperia S within the next few days, according to Sony's Poland branch.
In March it was suggested by Sony Germany that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Sony Xperia S might be coming in March. The upgrade never came, however, leaving many to wonder when it might arrive.
The Sony branch made the announcement on its Facebook page as a response to questions on when the update would arrive. The statement was discovered by Xperia Blog and indicated that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update could come soon, possibly even within the next few days. No specific date was mentioned, however, and given Sony Germany's previous claims it is advised to be skeptical about the statement. This is compounded by the fact that Sony Germany has stated that the update will come out sometime in the second quarter. April lies in the second quarter, but Sony Germany's announcement means that hypothetically the update might not arrive until June.
Additionally, an arrival of the Jelly Bean update in Poland would not necessarily correlate with its arrival globally.
Sony Xperia S was Sony Mobile's top smartphone just under a year ago, but has since been followed by the Sony Xperia Z, ZL handhelds and the Xperia Tablet Z. The Xperia Z in particular has been the focus of much Sony smartphone news. But many Sony users are still holding onto their trusty Xperia S, even despite the update's delayed arrival.
Are any Sony Xperia S users out there frustrated by the wait for the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update? Let us know in the comments.
